Nurses should be taught by nurses??

I was caught by suprised that one on my colleagues told me that only nurses with Malaysian Nursing Board certificate are allowed to teach the nursing students, regardless he or she have masters or phd.

I wonder that not all the nurses can teach all medical topics as they don't have certificate of practice from Malaysian Medical Association?

  1. Maybe we need more nursing graduates that have masters or phd in medical topics.

If we have degree in nursing, can we further our studies in some other medical field? For example:
    1) Pathology
    2) Anatomy
    3) Physiology
    4) or any other medical fields?

Can we nurses further our study in such fields? If we can, maybe someday, there will be enough lecturers of medical topics that originate from nursing degree program itself.

If that happens, maybe we nurse can improve our own educational system too.

The lecturers (that originate from medical degree) often said that they do not really know how much is the amount of knowledge that they should teach to the nursing students.

So I just think that if we have lecturers from nursing degree that can teach medical topics, maybe our educational system will be improved as such lecturers (former nurses) should know what the student nurses should know regarding medical topics.

This way, one day, maybe lecturers can educate nursing students based on our supposed nursing scope.

"Anatomy and Physiology for nursing student", "Pathophysiology for nursing student", and other courses systematically can be organised and taught according to nursing scope.
